MOSCOW – With the world celebrating International Women's Day over the weekend, Moscow Metro has revealed a significant increase in female staff.
Maxim Rikstov, vice-mayor of Moscow's Transportation Mayor, announced that the number of female train drivers at the Moscow Metro has increased by 30% over the past year.
“Today, they run modern Mosqueba trains on two metro lines in line 4 and 15,” Rikstov said.
Before becoming train operators, each completed training at Corporate University in Moscow.
Interesting Fact: In line 4, all train drivers (both male and female) work with assistants.
Liksutov explained that this is the only metro line that does not have an ALS-ARS system (automatic locomotive signaling with automatic speed control), and requires the operation of a two-person train.
“Women have returned to the profession of train operators at the Moscow Metro in January 2021, and the number continues to grow,” said Liksutov.
“Today, 120 female train operators and their assistants run the train.
“We are in line with the initiative of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sovanin, creating comfortable working conditions for all our employees.”
