On February 13, 2025, PG Bison officially opened the Ingongo Youth Center in Mkhondo, the Ethandakukhanya community. With the internet paving the way for personalized learning and access to the internet in most rural areas, PG Bison took it upon itself to fill this gap for high school students in the Mkhondo community by sponsoring the Indongo Youth Center, a community-driven initiative designed to create a secure, inspirational, resourceful learning environment with free access to Wi-Fi. Injongo, which means “purpose” for Isizulu, is more than just a project. It is a commitment to uplifting the next generation by providing tools to discover purpose and create lasting change.
Vision of change
Sibusiso Dlamini, executive at PG Bison: The relationship between human capital and stakeholders states: Many children in this community do not have a quiet place to study or access the internet. That's why Injongo is extremely important. It provides students with a space to concentrate, learn and grow. With our years of presence at Mkhondo, we continue to find initiatives that will help us understand the needs of our communities and reduce the pressure our communities face. ”
Create space for growth
Students at Injongo Youth Center have access to a well-designed learning environment tailored to support academic needs with a PG Bison product range.
- Individual learning spaces: Learners can choose from modern learning pods and workstations equipped with desks, comfortable custom-made Ottomans, cushions and chairs in a quiet environment. This space introduces PG Bison melaud, spiy texture and spagloss finishes, creating an exciting atmosphere for intensive learning.
- Collaborative learning areas: For group discussion and project work, students will have access to an enclosed conference room style study room with Bison Supamatt and a whiteboard for brainstorming and teamwork.
- Welcome reception and amenities: The center features an attractive reception area with built-in Supamatt and Formica LifeSeal WorkTop finishes, as well as a fully renovated toilet designed for young women and men, finished in the PG Bison Melawood range.
This thoughtfully designed space ensures that students have a comfortable, functional and exciting environment to support their educational journey.
The power of the community
This initiative not only impacts the lives of Mkhondo children, but also has a positive ripple effect on the community. Mkhondo Local Government Counselor, Cllr. Simelane said: “As a community at Mkhondo, I would like to thank PG Bison. This initiative is extremely important because it focuses on their research and future goals in that it can escape the harmful effects on our youth, and serves as a space for positive outlets for them.”
The Injongo Youth Center is proof that PG Bison continues to invest in initiatives that advocate for the positive development and change of the communities in which they operate.
