JOHANNESBURG – Police are swooping down in warehouses at Crown Mines and Dragon City Mall, where they discovered over R1 million counterfeit products.
Lt. Col. Christopher Singo, a spokesman for the Priority Crime Investigation Bureau, also known as the Hawks, said 31 illegal immigrants were found and arrested during the search.
Reminiscence of the events leading up to the attack, on February 27, 2025, the Hawks serious commercial crime investigation team at Pretoria's headquarters said they received information about a warehouse distributing counterfeit items to Johannesburg.
The warehouse was located in Crown Mines and Dragon City.
“A search and seizure warrant was applied and granted on March 12, 2025,” Lt. Colonel said.
“On March 17, 2025, a search and seizure were carried out, resulting in the Hart Port being confiscated to an estimate of over R1 million.
“The items discovered by police have been seized for further investigation.”
The teams involved in RAID included members of the Hawks' Serious Commercial Crime Investigation (SCCI) at its headquarters in Pretoria and SCCI, Gauteng, as well as Johannesburg-based Vispol and Border Police, as well as Gauteng's brand holders.
Lt. Colonel Coronel said each criminal case has been enacted against the owner of the warehouse.
